Positioned as a tactical roleplaying game in the Fire Emblem universe, Fire Emblem: Heroes will allow players to level up popular characters from the series and engage in strategic battles. Unlike Super Mario Run's one-time fee, Fire Emblem Heroes is free to start but then charges players for in-game currency.
The Nintendo Switch presentation was notably light on Fire Emblem details. Based on the Japanese-only title Fire Emblem Gaiden that originally released for the NES in 1992, Shadows of Valentia is being completely reworked to bring this gaming classic into the modern age. Although it didn't last very long, there was a lot to sift through, including confirmation of new titles as well as the first mobile Fire Emblem experience.

Also unlike Super Mario Run, this iteration of FE will be free-to-play, although Nintendo didn't specify just how that premise would play out. In a similar way to how pre-registrations for Super Mario Run were up on the App Store months before the game launch, Android users can now subscribe to be notified when Fire Emblem hits the Google Play Store at the beginning of February. There are four new games coming out in the near future, including a remake of a classic title for the 3DS, a mysterious game for Nintendo's upcoming Switch console, and the highly anticipated mobile game.
