Winter storm warning in place for parts of Pa.

The National Weather Service has upgraded the winter storm watch that was issued Sunday to a winter storm warning for most of central NY, including all of Cayuga County.

A winter storm warning is posted throughout most of the rest of the state, including in Allegany County. Snow accumulations are expected to be 5 to 10 inches above 4,000 feet and 1 to 4 inches possible below 4,000 feet.

Much of the precipitation will occur Monday night into Tuesday morning. Meteorologist Kylie Bearse says the flakes will likely start falling around noon with snow showers continuing off and on overnight and into Wednesday morning. Farther inland across southern NH, it will be a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain at times.

If snow does fall to that extent, driving could be hard during the morning commute and during the day on Tuesday.

The storm is expected to cause other issues in the NY city area and Long Island with rainy, windy conditions during that time.
