Massive adoption of Facebook's Lite version

FB Lite is created to work on 2G networks and areas with slow or unstable connections, and it helps users save money by using less data.

The update brings Facebook Lite to more regions, including the definitely not emerging markets of South Korea, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Italy.

Facebook Lite is a solution for those who use less capable phones and have less bandwidth and slower Internet connections. Facebook Lite was initially launched in India and the Philippines, but the app made its way to multiple other countries.

The social giant debuted the low bandwidth version of its app in 2015 to expand its network beyond those consumers with access to high-speed broadband networks.

She added, "In several countries around the world, many people are mobile first or mobile only - and that includes business owners". The app is compatible with smartphones running at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but it doesn't have some features that regular Facebook users might enjoy.




Facebook Lite supports more than 50 languages and has an install size of less than 1MB. For example, you can now like, comment, and share posts.

To put it into perspective, Facebook draws over a billion users monthly on mobile with a major chunk coming from developing nations where the need to connect to the digital platform is palpable.

FB Lite s crucial for Facebook to continue to grow and maintain an active user base. But gradually the app was rolled out in other parts of the globe as well.

Performance improvements are a given with any update, especially when the company wants to assure a fast, reliable connection to the social network no matter what. Now it has done the same again to reach 200 million users under a year.
