'Go buy Ivanka's stuff': Kellyanne Conway may have broken ethics laws

Speaking to the hosts of "Fox & Friends" about US department store Nordstrom dropping the Ivanka's clothing and accessory line and public calls to boycott her products, Conway defended the president's daughter.President Trump's official counselor, Kellyanne Conway, may have broken a key ethics rule Thursday morning when she told TV audiences to "go buy Ivanka's stuff".

The President "fully supports his daughter", the spokesperson said, per the report.

In an interview on Fox News Thursday, Ms. Conway urged people to buy Ms. Trump's products and offered that she was giving a "free commercial". "Go buy Ivanka's stuff".

"It should have never happened, and they better learn this lesson very quick."Chaffetz and ranking committee member Congressman Elijah Cummings, Democrat, sent a joint letter to the Office of Government Ethics regarding the incident".

President Trump, accompanied by his daughter Ivanka, waves as they walk to board Marine One on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington.

Kellyanne Conway, a Counselor to U.S. President Donald Trump, came under fierce criticism Thursday for promoting the brand of Ivanka, Trump's daughter, on television.

Nordstrom and other retailers that have dropped Ivanka's brand contend the decision was based on performance reviews.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer defended Trump's attack on Nordstrom on Wednesday, claiming it was reasonable, as the decision was "a direct attack on his policies in her name".

Typically an ethics rule violation results in a letter of reprimand, according to Lawrence Noble, a former top lawyer and ethics officer at the Federal Election Commission.

"My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom". Among the rules: An employee shall not use his or her office "for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise". "Bad!" he wrote on Wednesday.

Ethics experts have said Trump's tweet may also be an ethics violation, and Sen. Neither the company nor Ivanka Trump's brand released any sales figures.

With each passing day since president Trump's inauguration, whatever theoretical line may have existed between the new administration and the Trump family has become increasingly blurry.
