National Football League warns Seahawks for not listing Richard Sherman on injury report

The Seattle Seahawks were only issued a warning by the NFL for not disclosing that Richard Sherman was injured last season, NFL.com reported Tuesday.

According to the report, the violation was deemed to a result of rules misinterpretation and that if there are future violations by the Seahawks this incident will be taken into account.

The team could have faced a fine or loss of a draft pick for not disclosing Sherman's injured medial collateral ligament, but the National Football League opted for leniency. In 10 of those weeks, he missed practice time, but the Seahawks listed the reason as "non-injury related".

Sherman never missed a game last season.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported in January Seattle faced the loss of a second-round draft pick as a worst-case scenario from the violation. In Week 12, Sherman was listed with an ankle injury.

The NFL's official rules stipulate teams are required to inform the league, opponents, media and broadcast partners of any player injuries on a weekly basis.

The controversy didn't begin until after the season, when Pete Carroll revealed that his star cornerback played a substantial chunk of the season with an MCL injury. I don't know. He was fine about it. However, the Colts were not punished past year for not revealing that quarterback Andrew Luck had been playing with broken ribs.
