2-Year-Old Chicago Boy Fatally Shot While Riding in vehicle

The child's aunt was using Facebook Live around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, recording as she drove her boyfriend and nephew, whose head could occasionally be seen in the back seat.

The 2-year-old was sitting in a vehicle driven by the child's aunt and was shot in the head, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

Police are looking for surveillance video and say they have promising leads on who fired the deadly shots.

She then runs down the alley where they had been driving and begs for a neighbour to let her into their home. Family members have said she's about four months pregnant. "I can't go to the hospital ... this bullet in my stomach".

Someone inside the house can be heard saying, "Call 911!" Police continue to investigate.

"Yes, you can", a woman said.

The triple shooting occurred in the midst of a spike in violence in the nation's third largest city, which has caught the attention of President Trump. An 11-year-old girl died Tuesday morning after being struck in the head by a stray bullet Saturday evening.

A 19-year-old has been charged with her murder.

A year ago in Chicago there were 762 homicides and more than 3,500 shooting incidents - totals that far eclipsed those in 2015.

Just minutes earlier, the woman, who is reportedly four months pregnant, was seen chewing gum, smiling and singing into her cellphone as she sat in the passenger seat of vehicle driven by her 26-year-old boyfriend and a 2-year-old boy, Levontay White Jr., in the backseat. Kanari Gentry Bowers, 12, who was shot as she played basketball with friends, remained in critical condition Tuesday evening. Police believe the man and woman were dating.

"The issue is still creating a culture of accountability for people that fire weapons, and we're just not doing that", the superintendent said. "Anyone with information about these crimes owes it to the families of these children to come forward".

Just before noon, a South Side man was shot dead when someone walked up to him in a South Shore neighborhood store in the 2000 block of East 71st Street and shot him in the chest.
