Patent For A Wearable Battery Charger Technology For The Apple Watch Published

So far, only a handful of WatchOS apps - including Workouts, Nike+ Run Club and Runkeeper - are able to use the Series 2's built-in Global Positioning System, but Strava is rightly KOM when it comes to cycling and running tracking. However, a new report drops light on the Apple Watch Series 3 display panel saying that a different display technology will be applied this time around.

Industry sources have told Digitimes that supplier TPK Holding has been having a hard time with the mass production of touch-on-lens (TOL) displays, which is used by the Apple Watch Series 2.

The article goes on to note that Apple will utilise a new "glass-film touch solution", and is reportedly considering Taiwan's General Interface Solution or Hong Kong's Biel Crysel Manufactory to supply the new panels.

The possible changes to the watch appear to result in part from manufacturing challenges at an Apple supplier called TPK Holding.

According to a report from DigiTimes, the next-generation Apple Watch is tipped to come with a glass-film touchscreen display.

While there have been countless leaks and rumors about the 10th anniversary iPhone 8, leaks on the next-gen Apple Watch are few and far between. Nonetheless, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated previous year that the Apple Watch 3 could come with an LTE chip for cellular connectivity.

Starting this week, those who already have Strava installed on their iPhones can update to the latest version to get its functionality on the Apple Watch as well.

A patent by Apple for a wearable battery charger technology has been published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This feature may be used in the strap of the Apple smartwatch.

Apple Watch Series 3 will be the third generation smartwatches that were developed by Apple Inc. since the original model was released nearly two years ago. The new display might help Apple minimize the cost of production. Normal use saw the battery life extended to 18 hours.
