David Moyes relishing his Everton return with Sunderland

Lukaku has now scored 60 Premier League goals for Everton - equal with club legend Duncan Ferguson - and his finish was his eighth at Goodison Park in just five games in 2017.

Moyes returns to his former club on Saturday for only the second time since departing for Manchester United in 2013, having capped his reign by leading them into the Champions League in 2005.

Romelu Lukaku in particular seems to be on a hot streak, scoring 9 goals in his last 10 games.

Sunderland stay bottom after a 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

Ronald Koeman's first season has been better than expected and the new signings have gelled admirably along with the existing crop of players.

On the afternoon Romelu Lukaku equalled Duncan Ferguson's Premier League goal record for Everton, Ronald Koeman insisted the striker can offer more to his team. Sunderland were four points better off at the same stage last season and survived after winning three, drawing seven and losing only two of the final 12 games under Sam Allardyce.

"I just believe that we'll get a good run somewhere along the line". "The way football works sometimes is that you never see it coming".

Despite a much-improved defensive record this season, Everton are still very much in need of surgery to their backline.

"We know if we can get the ball to Jermain [Defoe] he will get a shot away or an opportunity". I wanted them to take the ball a bit more and be braver in the second half and I thought we did that.

Captain Phil Jagielka's declining displays earlier in the campaign have seen him stuck on the substitutes' bench in recent weeks, Argentina global Ramiro Funes Mori has failed to impress when deputising for the Everton stalwart, while Ashley Williams, a £12m summer signing from Swansea City, will turn 33 this year.
