For the fourth straight year, Indiana University Bloomington is one of the leaders in the Peace Corps' annual list of top volunteer-producing colleges and universities nationwide.
Linde is now in Nicaragua serving as an environmental volunteer and science teacher in elementary schools. The University of South Florida ranked No. 18 nationally among large schools with 40 alumni now volunteering worldwide and No. 3 among graduate schools with 18 alumni now volunteering worldwide. This is the third straight year that the college has ranked among the top 20 schools in its category, with 18 alumni now volunteering worldwide.
The Peace Corps Master's global graduate programs, offered by SPEA and the IU School of Education, allow students to combine Peace Corps service with graduate studies for credit.
The Peace Corps says the University of Vermont ranks 8th in the country in the production of volunteers from medium-sized universities.
Three Washington universities sent more students to work in the Peace Corps previous year than nearly any other universities in their respective size categories in the nation. "Joining the Peace Corps gave me the opportunity to continue the education I started at college". The Coverdell Fellows Program offers the opportunity for Peace Corps volunteers who have completed their service to earn an advanced degree from IU's School of Public and Environmental Affairs, with financial assistance and the chance to use their knowledge and skills in community internships. Peace Corps volunteers will be eligible for significant financial aid in each of the three programs as part of the Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program, which has helped more than 5,000 returned volunteers further their education at schools across the nation.
This year's rankings follow the launch of a refreshed brand platform that underscores the agency's commitment to putting the user experience first and makes the Peace Corps more accessible to audiences through the platforms they already use. "Many college graduates view Peace Corps as a launching pad for their careers because volunteers return home with the cultural competency and entrepreneurial spirit sought after in most fields".
"I have often considered Bowdoin's guiding obligation of promoting the common good a concept that both inspired my initial interest to join the Peace Corps and steered my thought process throughout my time as a volunteer", Lipkowitz said. CSU is the only university in Colorado ranked among the top 10 in the Large Colleges and Universities category.
