Projected first-round pick Sidney Jones injures leg at Pro Day

University of Washington cornerback Sidney Jones, a likely first-round pick in next month's National Football League draft, has suffered an injury at the school's Pro Day this afternoon. He has widely been expected to be taken in the first round and is the top-rated prospect among the Huskies' three talented defensive backs in the draft, which also includes safety Budda Baker and fellow cornerback Kevin King. The corner has often been given first round grades, and some mock drafts have even put Jones in the defensive backfield alongside Marcus Peters, his former college teammate, on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Reports say that Jones fell to the ground during a back pedal drill and had to be helped off the field. The last drill, last thing you've got to do, and that happens.

In three seasons at Washington, Jones recorded 145 tackles, 21 passes defended, 8.5 tackles for a loss, eight interceptions, and six forced fumbles. The first-team All-Pac-12 receiver was already projected as a potential first-round pick before he ran his 4.22, so that time only cemented his status as a likely first-rounder.

"I just want to come out and finish", Ross said. "I think I did a pretty good job of showcasing I can get in and out of my breaks".
