Romelu Lukaku Rejects Most Lucrative Contract Offer In Everton History

According to reports in the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are said to be lining up a £100m bid for Everton duo Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.

Chelsea were keen on re-signing Lukaku last summer and those at Stamford Bridge are sure to be alerted to the striker's contract snub at Everton.

Lukaku has netted 19 times for Everton in the Premier League this season, with that return seeing him lead the Golden Boot race alongside Harry Kane.

There had been concern about the Blues insistence to place a larger release clause into the deal than Lukaku and his agent Mino Raiola were happy to accept but the deal had been expected to go through regardless.

Everton had been keen to tie down the Belgium global to a fresh long-term deal with only two years remaining on his existing one, signed in summer 2014.

A number of clubs have already been linked with the Belgium worldwide since stories about his contract emerged, including former club Chelsea and Manchester United.

Lukaku has scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Toffees this term and the club were willing to make him their highest-paid player.

Everton are exactly where they should be.

These are all traits Lukaku has shown in recent times - a move to Chelsea would be ideal in developing him as a player, and indeed taking him to the next level.

"There are no problems right now between the player and the club,"' Raiola told stated.

It's also worth remembering that while Lukaku's goals have taken Everton a long way towards securing European football next season.his manager and team-mates have provided him with the platform to excel.

Romelu (23) has informed the Toffees that he has no intention to renew his contract with just 2 years remaining.

"If you want to become one of the best world players - if you look at the like of Messi, Ronaldo, Thierry Henry - they were players who were constantly improving, constantly getting better".
