Microsoft Announces New Xbox Wireless Tech Series Controller

The first-dubbed the Xbox Wireless Controller-Recon Tech Special Edition-will be available worldwide starting April 25 for $69.99, or $10 more than the standard black Xbox Wireless Controller.

"In developing this new controller series, the Xbox team was inspired by military technology and performance patterns, exploring concepts stemming from combat armor and sci-fi mechanical gear", reads the announcement.

The new controller series will be compatible with the Copilot console feature on Xbox One. Similar military-inspired controllers can be expected as Microsoft continues to roll out the series ahead of its scheduled Project Scorpio launch around the holiday season. One player controls the game and the other helps them out with the controls on a different remote.

What's been your favorite Xbox One controller so far?

The Recon Tech controller features a laser etched texture front with gold accents and insignia on the front, while the textured diamond rubberized grips are on the back. "You can also take advantage of the custom button-mapping feature through the Xbox Accessories App, available for download from the Xbox Store or Windows Store". Instead it's another in a long line of options that allow gamers to choose how their Xbox One experience will play out.
