Truecaller today announced expansion of its services, including caller id for feature phones, video calling and payment service using mobile phone number for its subscribers in India.
The company touts high quality video calling service through Truecaller with the addition of Google Duo.
The new version of Truecaller app will provide flash messaging service that will enable user to send quick pre-defined messages to any Truecaller user in case of distress, location, or reached home.
Truecaller has also managed to secure a partnership with Google to integrate a dedicated Duo video calling button into their app.
The announcement was first made by Amit Fulay, who is India head, Google Duo.
There's no word on when Truecaller 8 will roll out to users on the Play Store, but we'll keep you updated when it does.
To send payments through Truecaller, users have to create a unique Virtual Payment Address in the app.

Stockholm-based Truecaller, backed by Sequoia Capital, Atomico and Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers, has more than 150 million users in India. However, Google's partnership with Truecaller could open up Duo to more possibilities, and could help it hold its own against competition. The UPI (Unified Payments Interface)-based service will allow users to send/receive money using an UPI ID or via mobile numbers registered with BHIM app. Non-ICICI bank users can register on to Truecaller Pay app as well. Dubbed "Airtel Truecaller ID", the feature will work without internet connectivity.
