Shadab stars in Pak's nerve-wracking win over Windies in second T20

Pakistan, who won the first match by six wickets in Barbados, were dismissed for 132 as spinners Sunil Narine and Samuel Badree combined effectively to give the West Indies an excellent chance of levelling the series.

The 18-year-old struck the telling blow with the final delivery of his spell, a googly that top-scorer Marlon Samuels (44 off 35 balls), could only edge behind to reduce Windies - at one stage 60-1 - to 81-6.

Although Samuels was mostly silent and supported Lewis from the other end, it was their this 56-run stand that certainly allowed West Indies their build-up to a fine innings as well as the chase. Lewis was adjudged the player of the match. Unfortunately, first two games, I got run out.

The focus again is on talented leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who marked his first appearances at senior worldwide level in this format with successive Man of the Match performances.

"We didn't take advantage of the good position we were in going into the last eight overs of our innings", said a disappointed Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed.

Veteran Akmal (48) and Azam (43) had the visitors well poised for a total in excess of 160 after Ahmed chose to bat first as they put on 88 runs for the second wicket. Meanwhile, let us take a look at the highlights from the 3rd T20I. In the same opening over, Imad Wasim was stumped for a duck.

However the introduction of Samuels for his first bowl in global cricket for 18 months following the remodelling of his action earned the home side a vital breakthrough and turned the tide of play.

For Pakistan, Shadab finished with figures of four for 14 while Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz also chipped in with a wicket each.

Samuels' first delivery was an inviting waist-high full toss which Akmal attempted to heave out of the ground but could only find Lendl Simmons on the midwicket boundary.

It will be a salvage operation today for Carlos Brathwaite's West Indies side as they try to stop Pakistan clinching their Twenty20 global series in the third match.

Leg-spinner Badree was the most successful bowler with two wickets for 22 runs.
