Knicks' Derrick Rose (torn meniscus) out for season

Knicks guard Derrick Rose will miss the last few games of the season after tearing the meniscus in his left knee.

After three-straight All-Star appearances from 2009-2012 that included winning league MVP honors in 2010, Rose could not stay on the court for long as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

Rose, who has been out of action since March 27, played well for the Knicks in his first season in NY, averaging 18.0 points and 4.4 assists per game, even if his three-point shooting percentage was down compared to past seasons.

This time, it's for a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to The Vertical.

The Knicks also announced Rose will need arthroscopic surgery. "I really can't think about or see how it's going to go while I'm still playing here". Since the 2011-12 season Rose has not averaged more than 20 points per game in a season.

Rose is on the record saying he wants a max deal before the 2017-18 season begins, but after a third knee surgery, that seems unlikely, too.

A torn meniscus in his right knee also sidelined him for the bulk of the 2013-2014 season.

When he's healthy, Rose is a dynamic scorer. Carmelo Anthony, who has been in NY for the last seven seasons, may be with a new team next season, too.

A disappointing first year in NY has come to a close for Derrick Rose.
