Warren Buffett's Face Will Adorn Cans of Cherry Coke in China

Warren Buffett's face will appear on cans of Cherry Coke in China, an attempt by Coca-Cola to capitalize on its biggest and most famous investor.

It turns out that the Oracle is quite popular in China and could help the brand's image.

And here's the Buffett connection: the billionaire says he drinks cherry coke daily and he also has a huge following in China.

Berkshire Hathaway, the investment company owned by Buffett, holds 9.3% of Coca-Cola stocks, worth about $17 billion, according to Bloomberg.

And like in the U.S., Buffett is seen as "a non-corrupt, down-to-earth" kind of person in China, another selling point, Rein said.

Chinese consumers have also grown tired of pop stars and celebrities willing to lend their name and image to any product, according to Chow.

Buffett told Yahoo Finance that four or five months ago, Kent had said they would introduce Cherry Coke into China and asked him about putting his picture on the cans and bottles.

At his annual meeting past year, Buffett proclaimed, "I have not seen evidence that convinces me that it'll be more likely I reach 100 if I suddenly switched to water and broccoli".

"We honestly were surprised when Mr. Buffett agreed to the idea". In opening remarks, Buffett said he was delighted to have people around the world joining, but noted the meeting was being simultaneously translated into just one language: Mandarin.
