WWE Superstar Shakeup process continued on last night's edition of Smackdown Live.
Naomi posted the following on her Instagram, and Sasha Banks responded to Naomi with the tease. Smackdown Live fans were upset when they heard the news. To Raw, AJ Styles and Kalisto make the most sense.
Wyatt finally got his due when he won his first WWE title, the Smackdown Tag Team Championship, with Luke Harper and Randy Orton, in December 2016.
After emerging on SmackDown, Owens drew out the likes of Baron Corbin, AJ Styles and Zayn. Moving to Raw was, to paraphrase what Triple H said to Kurt Angle upon coming to Raw some years ago, akin to making it to the "A" show.
Last week we had many debuts on the RAW and Smackdown after Wrestlemania. The matches die on "Raw" because no one cares about them, and "SmackDown" desperately needs more depth in the midcard for tours and PPV shows. I think Vince McMahon has gotten hold of my fantasy non-WWE roster from 2012.
He also thinks that all the other performers who were moved during the Superstar Shake-up have a new opportunity with a fresh, clean slate in front of them. Zayn has joined the blue brand, following his fiercest rival.
Solution: Send Dolph Ziggler there to be the top star for a few months, along with new singles wrestler Aiden English and failed experiment Apollo Crews. The Smackdown tag division desperately needed an established team to anchor the division.
Adam Cole is rumored to be WWE-bound in the future, and if Cole had his way, he would start off at NXT. A loss to Owens (being a former Universal champion, himself) wouldn't drop his stock that much. I loved this week's Smackdown less for what it was and more for what it looks like Smackdown is becoming.
Solution: The no-brainer is for New Day to switch shows immediately. "I'd of course want to get on the main roster, but the idea of starting in NXT, developing Adam Cole in WWE NXT, and then, going to a RAW or SmackDown, would be my ideal scenario". With this roster, it's bound to be an exciting year in new stories and new feuds, so let's see how things shake up on Monday's Raw. Now that they know they are staying on SmackDown Live, Chad Gable and Jason Jordan are cashing in their rematch clause.
The number was likely helped somewhat by the fact that highly rated CBS dramas NCIS and Bull aired repeats opposite SmackDown and NBC's The Voice was a clip show on Tuesday. SmackDown has a dearth of main-eventers right now and Payback is still three weeks away, meaning a title match for Styles is even further down the line.
Lana, Rusev, The Shining Stars and Sin Cara complete the dealings by Smackdown general manager Daniel Bryan. The Superstar Shakeup has come and gone, and both Styles and Reigns remain on their respective brands.
SmackDown Live opened this week with its newest acquisition, the United States Champion Kevin Owens.
