Man accused of stealing more than 100 cellphones at Coachella

Tech-savvy concert-goers helped police locate a NY man who allegedly stole more than 100 cellphones at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival over the weekend, authorities said. But, they then started tracking their devices using the Find My iPhone and all the phones pointed towards Reinaldo de Jesus Henao, a 36-year old man from NY.

Reinaldo De Jesus Henao, 36, was arrested in Indio, California, after he stole over 100 cell phones at the Southern California music festival.

Irony can be a cruel taskmaster. one thief found this out the hard way after being caught red-handed with over 100 stolen mobile phones at Coachella. Ronaldo De Jesus Henao has a much more specific talent: He's apparently very, very good at stealing smartphones. The group followed Henao until security could detain him, and he was eventually arrested by police. Henao didn't turn off the phones after taking them, which allowed users to pinpoint his location. Devices were returned to owners who had already discovered their phones were missing, while the rest wait to be collected.

The first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival closed with hundreds of people claiming their iPhones had been stolen.

The New York man faces charges of grand theft and possession of stolen property. He was released on Saturday after posting $10,000 bail, according to inmate records.
