Takeaways from the Chiefs' 2017 schedule

The New England Patriots' schedule was released Thursday night, and the National Football League did the defending champs no favors.

Sunday Night Football will feature a rematch of last season's Super Bowl, when the Patriots host the Atlanta Falcons on October 22.

The Patriots will play all three teams they faced in the 2016 postseason. But on balance, the Patriots get something of an advantage in their schedule as they get to play one less proper road game.

The Nov. 5 Oakland Raiders-Miami Dolphins game will launch a run of 15 national games in 51 days, coinciding with the November-December holiday season.

The Patriots' 2017 regular season schedule is officially out, and most Pats fans will obviously find a way to watch them all. This year, the Chiefs will make the trip to Gillette Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 7 to kick off the 2017 regular season.

As it stands right now, the Chiefs are currently seven-point underdogs against New England in Week 1.

Thursday, Sept. 7: New England vs. Kansas City, 8:30 p.m. Week 2 - at Saints - Sun.

Sunday, Sept. 17: New England at New Orleans, 1:00 p.m. Week 3 - vs Texans - Sun. The very next week, they play on the road against the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football.

Week 4 - vs Panthers - Sun.

The Baltimore-Pittsburgh rivalry gets an early Sunday afternoon game in Week 4 on October 1.

Thursday, Oct. 5: at Tampa Bay, 8:25 p.m. Week 6 - at Jets - Sun.

The team hosts a Super Bowl rematch against the Atlanta Falcons in prime time in Week 7, on October 22.
