Record Store Day's mission is to bolster local record stores. Record Store Day is sponsored by our friends at Pro-Ject Audio, as well as the Australian Music Retailers Australia, and you should go out and support all the indie record stores out there that rely on foot traffic to actually stay in business.

This year marks the event's 10th birthday and avid vinyl collector Sir Elton was named as the first ever World Record Store Day Legend. A group of record store owners came up with the concept as a way to celebrate the unique culture surrounding their stores.

Jim adds, "We will also be giving away cloth record bags to the first 200 people who purchase items that day". "You have a lot of young entrepreneurs who are seeing this opportunity". Record Store Day helps with our profile because people talk to each other and ask how long we have been here.

Brown doesn't think it's any coincidence that the growing popularity of vinyl records coincided with the creation of an annual event to celebrate stores with vinyl. Columbus record stores will also feature the fourth edition of "Columbus Blood", which is a compilation of music from a variety of Columbus bands. The 2017 Record Store Day ambassador is St. Vincent.

"We got into the vinyl about seven years ago, and vinyl stayed to the point where I had to start ordering vinyl for Grand Rapids", Baratono said. Stephanie Terpening performs at the store from noon until 2:00 p.m. Brett Mitchell will follow at 2:30 p.m. and perform until 4:00 p.m.
