Apple's OLED iPhone 8 might not be ready until November or later

Today we learn that Samsung Display is expected to start shipping OLED panels for Apple's iPhone in June as planned, brushing off market rumors that the launch of the first OLED iPhone could be delayed due to supply shortage.

It seems there will be some radical design changes in the iPhone 8, Apple's flagship phone for 2017. Kou reports that these orders have caused production difficulties for the iPhone 8. However, if this were to happen, fans should expect a limited supply for the smartphone as a starter. The comment from the analyst supports several other reports made by news outlets. Going further back, the white iPhone 4 took almost a year to finally ship. The iPhone 8 and the iPhone 6 are miles apart. Most customers who want the new iPhone will simply buy it when it is finally available even if that means early 2018.

Brian White is an analyst at Drexel Hamilton. Two weeks ago, Cowen and Company's Timothy Arcuri agreed.

Do make a note that these are unverified photos from the source and it looks like they are CNC dummy models of the iPhone 8 chassis.

Apple itself hasn't said anything about the new iPhones or promised when they will be announced. Don't be shocked when we don't see massive lines around the block for the iPhone 7s if Apple's iPhone X is delayed - there'll be waiting en masse, instead. Kuo's statement this Monday suggests that Apple does not have issues getting the two traditional iPhones ready for release. According to Forbes, the public sale of the high-end device could be pushed back to the end of November 2017. The iPhone 8 is expected to come with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that would be placed below the glass. One such feature is the presence of the Infinity Display. Moreover, it is being reported that the fingerprint sensor under the OLED screen is also a major feature whose implementation might push the release date of the iPhone further. There are many delay reasons being given.

If the delay spoken about by Kuo is true, it remains likely that Apple would reveal all three smartphones at one time. A 4 mm bezel all around the smartphone will offer a new benchmark.

The metal frames serves as the protector of iPhone 8 as it covers all edges of the phone.
