Dejected Bayern out to secure last title on offer

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti says they only have themselves to blame for the 3-2 defeat against Borussia Dortmund.

In 2016, Dortmund finished second to Bayern - by 10 points - in the Bundesliga, lost to Bayern - on penalty kicks - in the German Cup final and lost to - yes - Bayern in the German Super Cup.

Tuchel had spoken of needing a bit of luck in order to win in Munich and, despite the score, his team were getting it.

"We came from 2-1 down and still won - that's insane", beamed Tuchel.

Bayern, who won the domestic treble last season, must now focus on wrapping up a fifth straight Bundesliga after also being eliminated from the Champions League last week by Real Madrid.

However, their dreams of repeating last season's league and cup double, under Ancelott's predecessor Pep Guardiola, are over.

"When you look at the many chances we had to reach the final, you can sum things up that we negligently let things slip", said Hummels.

"We now have to wrap up the Bundesliga title as soon as possible". Guerreiro pounced on a lose backpass from Martinez but his shot hit the post, but Marco Reus was on hand to tap home the rebound.

Dortmund scored first in the 19th minute when Bayern's Javi Martinez botched a goal line clearance and saw the ball trickle into the net.

Arjen Robben came close to making it 3-1 for the home side after 58 minutes but his left-footed curler hit the far right post.

Captain Philipp Lahm immediately fronted up for the TV cameras, ruefully telling ARD: "Today is another bitter setback to go with last week's disappointment".

The BVB got a good start going into the game as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed the target just wide with four minutes played.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his 35th goal of the season, set up by Ousmane Dembele, before the French wunderkind drilled home Dortmund's victor 16 minutes from time. "You could see when it was 2-2 that we really wanted to reach the final".

With the result, Dortmund progress into the German Cup final for the fourth time in row to encounter Eintracht Frankfurt in Berlin on May 27. We improved after the hour mark and displayed more courage.
