Google Home now helps you cook by reading recipes out loud

Google Home will give you instructions one by one at a time and also will provide the option to repeat a step, thereby making the cooking process more interactive.

When you're ready to start cooking, you'll say, "Hey, Google, start recipe", and the speaker will read aloud the steps you need to take. Developers can get to know the Google Assistant SDK from the Google Developers website and get started. As with all Google things, this will be rolling out over the next week or so, so if it's not working for you right now, try it again later.

Today, Google announced its home-based digital assistant is now letting users hear cooking recipes from multiple sources. Google home now has 5-million recipes. While Google Home could access a few recipes before, this latest update is a dramatic expansion that pulls from several big publishers, including "Bon Appetit, The New York Times, Food Network, and more", Google explained. The company also revealed that apart from reciting recipes with the aid of the Google Assistant, the smart speaker would be able to play music and perform all its normal activities.

Google Home has finally arrived in the United Kingdom, bringing a number of exciting new features to the connected home. Better still, you can ask it to repeat a particular step, and even convert measurements-all these can be made possible without losing the exact place you are in your recipe.

With the SDK, developers can integrate Assistant into existing products fairly easily.

It's important to note that the SDK is a developer preview at the moment, and so there are some features that are still in development; Google says those include support for hotwords, companion app integration, and others.
