India's cricket team to participate in Champions Trophy

While it may be a tad melodramatic to suggest that Indian cricket is at the crossroads - yet again - there is no doubt that Sunday's special general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India could at least in the short term, define the country's relations with the wider cricketing community.

It was decided that the squad for the series will be picked on Monday.

However, it was decided at a special general meeting held in New Delhi that India will take their place in the one-day worldwide showpiece, where they are due to take on Pakistan in their first match on June 4. You are aware that the squad representing India at the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 was to be submitted by 25th April 2017 but the squad has not even been selected as yet.

The COA - comprising Rai, IDFC managing director Vikram Limaye, and former Indian women's cricket captain Diana Edulji - was appointed by the Supreme Court after the Board refused to implement Lodha Committee recommendations. Some also see reason in accepting the revised offer from the ICC, which has agreed to pay the BCCI $100 million more than the approved $293 million. The BCCI members had convened the meeting to decide on India's participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. "The Supreme Court passed a judgement that he won't be allowed to attend the ICC meeting but it was never clarified whether he is ineligible to attend the SGM", a senior BCCI official conveyed the news in an interaction with PTI. We will not take any legal recourse in the matter.

"The acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary has been given full authority to talk to ICC and arrive at a deal that is best for BCCI".

Other issues discussed by Rai and the BCCI office-bearers on the day included implementation of the Lodha Committee reforms, including the still debated one-state, one-vote rule, among others.
