USA secretary of state Rex Tillerson and national security advisor General HR McMaster said Trump did not discuss "sources, methods or military operations" in a meeting with Lavrov last week.
That's basically what leftist media hack Chuck Todd asked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on "Meet the Press" Sunday. "I think it's been well documented, it's pretty well understood the nature of that interference here and elsewhere", he said.
Asked about U.S. intelligence reports that Russia meddled in last year's United States presidential election campaign, Tillerson said, "I don't think there's any question that the Russians were playing around in our electoral processes".
"I think terms like having a reset are overused", Tillerson said.
Tillerson did not directly confirm that Russian election-meddling went unaddressed in the talks, but said "we're not trying to start with a clean slate" in dealings with Moscow.
"It is largely viewed that it is not healthy for the world, it is certainly not healthy for us, for the American people, our national security interests and otherwise, for this relationship to remain at this low level", he added.
The agenda for Trump's trip, which includes visits to Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican, is meant to "bring a message of unity among all of these people of faith, among these great religions", Tillerson said.
Tillerson said the Washington political debate over Comey's firing does not affect him and his relationship with Trump. "What I am shocked about is you're sitting down with the secretary of state ... and you've got a such a short period of time to ask really serious, important questions".
He declined to say whether Trump, who in the past has criticized human-rights abuses in Saudi Arabia, would raise that issue during a planned speech in Riyadh.
In the interview, Tillerson covered a range of foreign policy issues.
"I will never compromise my own values, Chuck. and my values are those of the country.""Policy has to be tailored to the individual situation".
"The president is being very careful to understand how such a decision would impact the peace process", Tillerson said.
